Spirit School of Connecticut is a spiritual school for children and families that fosters self awareness, authentic expression, and compassionate leadership. It is our mission to empower the future generation of brilliant, compassionate leaders through integrated physical, mental, emotional and social learning.

Join Nora Jaya Malfettone as she guides you into meditation with deep breathing techniques while playing Tibetan crystal singing bowls and vocal toning for a relaxing, meditative experience. The sound waves resonate on a cellular level helping to balance both left and right hemispheres of the brain which aids in sleep, elevated mood, decreases feelings of depression and anxiety, releases emotional and physical toxins, increases immune function.
Recommended for all ages. (Adults welcome!)

Spirit School Yoga is founded in empowering and fostering curiosity, adventure, and creativity. The classes will be taught with joyous resonance that leaves space for imagination and freedom of expression. The class will include Yoga (independent, group and partner poses), sound and music therapy, and the use of fun and safe props that will be used differently in each class, offering a playful and unique experience each time. This yoga class is for children and adolescence of varied abilities and needs. Practice breathing techniques to calm, energize, and balance the nervous system, practice flowing sequences, challenging poses, partner and group poses, restorative yoga, and deep relaxation. Enrollment in Spirit School includes Breath & Sound Meditation.
Specific classes recommended for 5-11 year olds, 11-14 year olds, 14-18 year olds.

Having fun, connecting to each other, and doing simple breathing exercises are all part of this class. At this age, when children are sponges, we teach them simple and fun yoga poses (think barking like a St. Bernard in downward dog and meowing in cat pose). Adding features such as art, music, ecology, math, reading and more, the children have a chance to practice their social skills, connect with others as well as increasing strength, flexibility, sensory and motor skills. Must be potty trained. Parents are encouraged to leave so kids can explore independence!
Recommended for 3 to 5 years of age.

Yoga with baby is taught with simple breathing techniques for parent/guardian while practicing safe, and gentle movements with baby that aid in digestion, sensory stimulation, mobility, and relaxation. Adults will practice basic Yoga asana while being able to move, lift, twist, and de-stress with baby. This class is an inclusive set of practices to enhance playful interaction and communication between parent/guardian and baby and to promote their healthy development. Baby Yoga perfectly compliments baby massage and expands the benefits of touch with those of movement and relaxation.
Recommended for 0 to 3 years of age.

Prenatal Yoga is the first yoga practice for the child in womb. The child learns the rhythm of flow, full cycles of breath and stillness through their mother’s practice. Prenatal yoga relieves stress for both mother and child, elevates the mother’s mood, promotes better sleep, helps circulate oxygen efficiently for both mother and child, promotes strength and mobility during pregnancy and birth, decreases mother’s pain, decreases headaches and nausea, and instils a more stable lifestyle for the child from early on. This class is taught with supportive props for extra comfort for Mama. This course is offered as a drop-in and as a part of Spirit School Adult Unlimited.
