ADAPTIVE EDGE AT GCA

The Adaptive Edge Program

The Adaptive Edge Program was developed, for children (ages 4-10)and adolescents (ages 11-18) with intellectual and physical disabilities, to promote self-control, increase self-esteem and physical activity through Gymnastics, Parkour, and Dance. 

The adaptive Edge Program and GCA want your child to benefit from their participation in this program. We encourage parents and siblings to participate and make your child’s experience the best it can be.  1:1 accommodations can be made if preferred. 

Program Cost: $250 for the 10 week session

 

What are the Benefits of Participating in the Adaptive Edge Program?

Improved social skills by following 1 & 2 step directions and interacting with coaches and peers.

Improved motor skills and self-confidence by overcoming physical & mental obstacles one step at a time.

We encourage everyone to try new activities and actively participate in a the Adaptive Edge Program.

What is Recreational Therapy?

Recreation Therapy is therapy based on participation in recreational programs, especially to enhance the functioning, independence, and well-being of individuals with disabilities. 

The class is run by Coach Brendan. Coach Brendan is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). He received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Southern Connecticut State University. Brendan developed this class to give individuals with disabilities the same recreational opportunities that every other individual has access to. 

Coach Brendan Bogan, CTRS

Coach Brendan is the Director of the Parkour. Ninja, and Adaptive programs at GCA. He graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a BS in Therapeutic Recreation, he then became a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist in the state of Connecticut under the NCTRC. Brendan has always had a passion for working with all children, and including everyone in his programming. He developed The Adaptive Edge Program in the summer of 2018, for children and adolescents with physical and developmental disabilities.
